I was at the play-off final, my first and only time at Wembley. We seemed like the underdogs, but what a great team we had, with such characters. Couldn’t believe being 1-0 up at half time. Fantastic play by Richard Rufus, as per usual, and of course Clive Mendonca. Those horrible coloured suits that the squad wore, a mid brown colour. The unbelievable tension as the game seesawed. I remember feeling so tired by the end of extra time. Sasha waving his arms around and saving that penalty to take us up – the guys running down the pitch towards us and diving onto the grass. I was crying, not the only one, the guy next to me gave me a big hug. I felt sorry for the Sunderland supporters, both teams played so well, but I was glad it was us going up!
